founded in 1991, the lithuanian fund for nature (lgf) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting the protection and conservation of the environment and the restoration and better use of natural resources.
the lithuanian fund for nature works with state institutions, non-governmental and private organizations in the following areas:
protection of rare and endangered species and their habitats; management and reconstruction of ecosystems and natural habitats; sustainable use of natural resources; implementation of environmental policy; education of the general public on ecological issues.
the lithuanian fund for nature is a partner organization of the world wildlife fund (wwf), and is also an active member of the world conservation union (iucn), the european environment bureau (eeb), the european network of site management organisations (eurosite), the european union for coastal conservation (eucc), the central & eastern european group for enhancement of biodiversity (ceeweb), coalition clean baltic (ccb), and keep baltic tidy (kbt).
