jurate was the most beautiful of all the goddesses, and had never known mortal love... that is, until the brave and handsome fisherman kastytis showed up... the two fell in love, and kastytis joined jurate in her amber palace at the bottom of the baltic sea... ah, but then perkunas - the god of all gods - found out about their affair and was not pleased... in anger, he hurled bolts of lightning at the palace, leaving it in ruins, and killing kastytis... and poor jurate was chained to the ruins, where she mourns her lost love to this day... she cries brilliant tears of amber, which the sea throws to the shores... they are pure and clear, just like their love.
these environmentally-friendly kaleidoscopes are made from fast-growing hazel branches, and filled with natural baltic amber. the minimalist design is energy- and resource-efficient. hand made. approximately 14 cm [5.5"] length. 3.7 cm [1.5"] diameter.
